Hosea Feed the Hungry kicks off holiday season

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

An Atlanta tradition to help the less fortunate held a holiday season kickoff event on Tuesday.

Hosea Feed the Hungry's Elisabeth and Afemo Omilami once again plan to serve more than 40,000 people during the holiday season.

One of the agency's newest corporate sponsors -- 1-800-411-PAIN -- handed over a check for more than $15,000 to help people down on their luck.

The Omilamis will increase the opportunities for volunteers this year, including corporate volunteers.

Elisabeth's father, the Rev. Hosea Williams, started the agency in 1971 to provide hot meals and clothing  to the needy during the holidays and other times throughout the year.
