MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

The Memphis Police Department is performing an internal assessment of its TACT unit.

The decision comes after a two officers were shot during a barricade situation in 1300 block of Worthington on October 15, 2013. Officers Timothy Jackson and Paul Hutchinson were shot in the leg during the stand off with attempted murder suspect Aaron Dumas.

The department says the supervisory staff of the TACT unit has changed to allow further assessment of manpower, tactics, training and day to day operations.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office S.W.A.T. Team will respond to any situation that might need a tactical unit during the internal assessment.

MPD says the assessment should take two to three weeks.

The investigation comes after an Oct. 15 barricade situation at the home of Aaron Dumas, who had an active attempted murder warrant.

During the standoff, two TACT officers were injured when Dumas fired from the house.

The structure later burned, and Dumas' remains were found inside.
