Luz Matta said her mother acted to save her tiny poodle and blind sheltie as the pit bulls attacked.

"She let the sheltie go, she go of the leash go so that she could run away," Luz Matt said.

The Mattas were reunited with the sheltie, Sasha, on Friday. The poodle, Diamond, is still recovering from surgery.

Henry County police had to shoot the dogs to save Maria. Her daughter said she lost part of her ear.

Luz Matta is hoping all dog owner will learn a lesson from her mother's terrifying ordeal.

"Keep the public safe -- keep your dogs near you," Luz Matta said. "Be aware of what they are doing and where they are at all times."

Henry County police have identified the owners of the attacking dogs and are working to determine if charges will be filed in the attack.
