Court: Lower Arizona contributions limits remain

PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona's old limits on campaign contributions to candidates for state offices remain in place while courts continue to review a challenge to a state law to allow much larger contributions.

A state Court of Appeals ruling sends the case back to a trial judge to consider issues that the judge's initial ruling didn't cover.

The judge had rejected the state campaign finance commission's request to put the new higher limits on hold.

However, the Court of Appeals ruled the other way in an Oct. 15 order and the same' court's latest opinion keeps that order in place while the legal review continues.

That means the higher limits still can't be used. They include raising the contribution limit for individuals per election cycle for a legislative candidate to $4,000 from $390.
