Unlocking the Truth: Tween heavy metal rockers from Brooklyn

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

When most boys their age, 11 and 12, are listening to hip hop, pop and, dare I say, Justin Bieber, these boys from Brooklyn are jamming to music that may make most parents cringe. Not theirs.

The boys are from East Flatbush. They've grown up together. They balance their music with school. Good grades a must.

Unlocking the Truth have already become known on the metal circuit, playing festivals, and clubs like the Bitter End in Manhattan and even Times Square. And like all great bands, they're fueled by the fans.

So while these little rockers have already played venues most bands dream of, they have their wish list of other places -- cities and countries -- they want to play and conquer. They say they want to become big like Metallica.

Speaking of Metallica, I just happen to remember a little bit of the Metallica song "Master of Puppets," so I joined them on a jam.

While the future of Unlocking the Truth may be unwritten, the metal hard truth is the band has a long, promising career ahead.

When you hear about a place that still sells records, located in a hip neighborhood in the borough of Brooklyn, you enter that store with certain expectations.
