"Captain Phillips" is a movie starring Tom Hanks. It just hit theaters last weekend, and is one of the most talked about stories. However, the movie is based on a real story of a man, his crew and their 2009 hijacking.
The real Captain Richard Phillips talked to Good Day today.
"I think they did a great job, Tom Hanks, Paul Greengrass. You have to remember it is a movie and it was compressing five days down to two hours, but I think Paul did boiled it down to this main story as a man's peril on the sea and he got that very well," Captain Phillips tells Sue and Mike.
Sue then asked Phillips what the movie changed. Phillips told Good Day that the movie left out a few things and changed a few timing and scheduling of the events. He thought the directors did a good job portraying the intensity, especially during the 12 hours when the pirates were onboard.
"We are all stronger then we even know and we can do more than we think we can," Phillips said about how he gathered courage in the situation.
