LeDuff gets the runaround trying to clear Packard Plant rubble

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

UPDATE: Fox 2 crews showed up to the plant on Tuesday, a day after LeDuff visited City Hall, and a crew was outside cleaning up the rubble in the street.

Guess what happens when the scrappers steal the support beams from the Packard Plant? The Packard Plant falls into the street and then the fire trucks can't get through to help the kids at the end of the block. Then somebody puts up caution tape and waits for the city - but it's been days now.

Fox 2's Charlie LeDuff goes on a mission to City Hall to try and get the tape and rubble removed from the streets.

My first stop was to the city construction office. They told me try the environmental affairs office.

The environmental affairs office said to try the public works office.

The public works office said to try the demolition department.

The demolition department sent me to room 401 - wait a minute! That's the environmental affairs office!

Then I was sent to the 11th floor to the offices of the mayor and emergency manager.

I was told Mayor Bing was unavailable at the time so I tried the emergency manager's office. Those doors were locked and the rooms were dark.

So I tried Gary Brown's office, the compliance officer: "Leave a message."

Who's running this town?
