PANOLA COUNTY, Miss. (FOX13) -

Where is accused killer and kidnapper Michael Wright?

A statewide search continued Friday across Mississippi for the Batesville man accused of killing two people and kidnapping his own girlfriend.

MORE: Statewide manhunt continues in Mississippi

The focus of the manhunt is in both Panola County and Hinds County. Wright was out on bond for a 2012 murder when these crimes occurred.

Law enforcement across the Magnolia State isn't sure where he is. The fear is that Wright may be making his way from Utica, southwest of Jackson, north to Panola County and possibly to Batesville, where is mother lives.

Wright was last seen Wednesday as he disappeared into the Mississippi woods after allegedly kidnapping Sherice Latham and allegedly killed Jerry Brent, her uncle, in Hinds County.

Panola County Sheriff Dennis Darby said Wright may be headed back to Panola County because he has family there. The family has cooperated with the sheriff's office n their attempts to track Wright down.

"We have reached out to all the family and friends and anyone who has been associated with them," Sheriff Darby said. "Our heart goes out to them, because he is still family, and also the victims family."

Residents in Batesville and Panola County are scared that the accused killer and kidnapper might be headed back to their neighborhood.

"It's a big concern because everybody around here is talking about it because nobody knows where he is, so everybody is scared and on alert," said Myron Hall of Batesville. "We are watching out, and our sheriff's department is doing a good job searching for him. Hopefully they will find him before he kills anyone else."

Complicating the search for Wright, he is an accomplished outdoorsman. He grew up in Batesville. Family members say Wright's father taught him to hunt and trap when he was just 12. Family members say it would be nothing for him to spend days on end in the woods.

"He's doing an excellent job of evading us," Sheriff Darby said. "Some of the study they have done on him, he is really good at hiding. It's a big concern because he is able to survive in the woods so he could be anywhere around here. This is his hometown. He is familiar with the area real good."

Wright's mother Sarah said she doesn't know where her son is.

"I guess he is just still in there," Sarah Wright told FOX13 News. "I don't know what to do and I wish he would just step out and give his surrender to them and everything might be alright. He should just walk out and give up, that's all he can do."

Sheriff Darby said that after three days fatigue and hunger may start to set in on Wright, and he may trip up or make a mistake.

If you have any information on Wright's whereabouts you are urged to call 9-1-1. Wright is considered armed and dangerous.
