An 83-year-old woman robbed at gunpoint Sunday in her own backyard is not letting it get the best of her.
"I am not going to let this guy ruin my life. I'm going to get up, do what I normally do and to hell with it," said Mary Hall.
Hall's neighborhood off Central Avenue is often filled with joggers and people walking their pets; she said it has always been safe.
The 83-year-old arrived home from church on Sunday around noon when the gunman greeted her before she even stepped out of her car.
"It takes me a while to get out of the car, so I reached over to get my purse, and when I turned around and opened the door there he was right in my face with the gun," said Hall, "I looked up at him and he said if I looked up at him one more time he was going to kill me."
Memphis police managed to track down two suspects: a 24-30-year-old black man and 20-25-year-old black woman. Memphis Police investigators said the suspects used Hall's credit card at a Kroger grocery store on Lamar Avenue.
For three days following the crime, Hall said she was still shaken up; by Thursday the 83-year-old was out and about running errands including getting her replacement driver's license.
There is only one place that still unnerves Hall: Her own backyard.
"Only thing that makes me mad, because I like to work in my yard," said Hall, "So, now I don't feel … I feel intimidated a little bit … well, I'm not ready to work in my yard yet."
Hall said she will not feel safe in her backyard until the gunman is caught.
MPD investigators need the public's helping tracking down the suspects. Even small pieces can help put the bigger puzzle together.
The armed suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5-foot-10 inches tall, and between 160-180 pounds. Investigators said he is between 24-30 years of age; he was last seen wearing a black ball cap and dark decorative shirt.
A second suspect developed in the case is described by MPD as a black female between 20- and 25 years of age, approximately 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-5 in height, weighing between 130-170 pounds. Investigators said she was last seen wearing a black ball cap, sunglasses and red hoodie.
