October Nor'easter Still Dumping Rain Across Region

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

We're continuing to see bands of rain move on shore as this October Nor'easter rumbles up the East Coast.

We did see thunder and lightning earlier in Philadelphia, and there have been some dry slots, too, with hazy conditions and low-hanging clouds making it hard to see out there.

By late-morning, Flood Warnings were in effect for Chester and Lancaster counties, and there are Coastal Flood Advisories up for the shorepoints and bay communities through Saturday afternoon.

Some of the heaviest bands of rain have been setting up west of Philly, like they did on Thursday, so between Harrisburg and York, in the Susquehanna Valley, is where we are seeing steady rainfall.

When that heavier band moved through Center City earlier Friday, it brought traffic to a standstill on the Schuylkill Expressway.

Down toward our south, there were more scattered showers by late-morning.

Like Thursday, it could be pouring and then stop, periods of drizzle, too. The chance for heavy rain at least continues all the way through the night.

After midnight we will see relief with the rain. That doesn't mean it will be a dry, sunny weekend. All weekend we have low clouds, drizzle and more light rain chances. Along the shorelines, at high tides even on Saturday you could get more rain and flooding.

Expect rain totals of 2 to 4 inches across the area from this system.

High temperatures remain in the 60s, and winds will keep gusting over 20 miles an hour inland and higher along the coast.

We should start clearing out for Columbus Day on Monday.
