Benny Napoleon announces "bold" $3B neighborhood development strategy

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon unveils his $3 billion strategy to revitalize Detroit's neighborhoods if he is elected the next mayor.

The plan would create new shopping centers, new police fire and emergency centers and tens of thousands of new jobs. The new development centers would be in each of the city's newly established council districts.

"We have a neighborhood growth strategy that focuses on creating jobs and economic opportunities in every one of the new seven city council districts, and they're all going to be anchored by an economic engine that will help grow not just the area that they're in, but the entire council district," Napoleon tells Fox 2.

Napoleon revealed his strategy Monday night at Peace and Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church.

Earlier this month Napoleon revealed the first phase of his neighborhood plan.
