UPDATE: Memphis Police identify the shooting victim as 42-year-old John Shelly.
A man renovating a vacant Scottsdale Avenue home late Friday morning was fatally shot, police said.
Memphis Police Maj. Don Crowe said officers found a man with a gunshot wound inside the home at around 11:20 a.m.; he was sent to the hospital in critical condition.
"It's a vacant house. The people that were the victims were renovating the house," Major Crowe said.
As of early Friday afternoon, Memphis police information said they were not sure if it was a robbery gone wrong and did not have detailed descriptions of the suspects.
