Coyote Hunt Could Be Coming To Princeton

Posted: Updated:
PRINCETON, N.J. -

Deer sightings are common in Princeton, N.J. And now it appears coyote sightings are becoming more common, too. It's becoming such a problem that local leaders are ready to take drastic measures.

They tell FOX 29's Kelly Hessedal they're ready to hire sharpshooters.

The Animal Control Advisory Committee made that recommendation to the council this week.

One committee member said they're just trying to be proactive with the situation, trying to address it now before it becomes an even bigger problem.

There have been numerous complaints about the furry, four-legged creatures.

One hotspot appears to be the Princeton Community Village Area, a wooded neighborhood with plenty of homes, a park and lots of children.

Some think new construction in the area may be the reason for the increase in sightings.

If approved by the council, the city would hire sharpshooters to thin the coyote packs in town.. They would focus on specific wooded areas.

Hessedal has more details in this video report.
