HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Five Republican members of Congress from Pennsylvania say they're supporting a proposal they hope can break an impasse that's led to a three-day partial federal government shutdown.
The five appeared at a Wednesday news conference in Washington, D.C., to push for a bill to reopen the federal government and repeal a tax on medical devices in the 2010 health care law.
Rep. Lou Barletta says repealing the tax is common ground for Republicans and Democrats. Barletta appeared with Reps. Charles Dent, Mike Fitzpatrick, Patrick Meehan and Jim Gerlach.
The five broke party ranks this week, saying they'd support keeping the government funded without strings attached. House Republican leaders have clashed with Democrats over their insistence on scaling back the health care law as the price to keep the government open.

Rain lingers into Monday morning washing away any accumulation. However, watch for icy roads Sunday night.
