Hold Onto Your Earlobes: What It Takes To Close Ear Gauge Holes

Posted: Updated:

You know those ear gauges, those giant circles that stretch earlobes into a big hole? Many of us wonder why would anyone do that?

Well, now some people who have done it are wondering the same thing!

Just about everything is getting stuck in earlobes, from precious metals to man-made materials. There are hunks of creatively craved wood to chunks of custom-cut glass, as well as stunning stones and beautiful bones. Size does matter; it seems the bigger, the better.

The holes may be hip. But once you get started, what happens when you don't want them anymore?

Earlobe repairs can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars on up to a few thousand.

FOX 29's Joyce Evans shows us in the above video report what it takes to fix those earlobes.

In addition to ear gauge repairs, Evans reports that more women are fixing stretched out and split earlobes from aging and heavy earrings.

Doctors advise you to:

  • Fix even a small tear before it gets worse;
  • Re-pierce your ears in a different spot and let the rip close;
  • Or you can inject any cosmetic filler to plump up and firm up your lobe.
