Start-up teams with artists to create music memorabilia

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Mumford and Sons, Selena Gomez, Taylor swift are just some of the stars making entrepreneurs Kim Kaupe and Brittany Hodak names in the music industry. They are co-founders of a start-up company called 'ZinePak.

"When we just started the company just Brittany and I in our pajamas in our apartments in our living rooms," Kim said.

'ZinePak designs original memorabilia for music performers that taps into fans' passions and gives them something to hold on to -- literally -- in this digital age.

"To make an amazing tangible collectable that fan would want to have," Brittany said. "The traditional Zine Pack configuration combines an artist album with a magazine written entirely about that artist, exclusive interviews, photos… and custom merchandize that we create just for the package."

Kim says they work closely with the artist picking photos, helping with liner notes, even special messages for fans that can be accessed with a smart phone.

Kim and Brittany, both under 30, founded the company two years ago on what they say was a leap of faith.

"Our success did not come over night. In the first year we only did six projects," Kim says. "We were really beating down doors… trying to get people to listen to our ideas and once the end of the year we did our first artist release for Scotty McCreary… that helped open doors to people we never had access to before."

This year they have jumped to 24 projects. Their latest 'ZinePak is with the band R-5.

When you hear about a place that still sells records, located in a hip neighborhood in the borough of Brooklyn, you enter that store with certain expectations.
