EAST MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Despite the government shutdown, it was full steam ahead Tuesday as well for the federally-funded health care mandate. Many experienced glitches in the system online.

More than 1 million Americans logged online to the federal exchange website before 7 a.m. EDT Tuesday. The heavy traffic lead to technical problems and prompted messages that dealt with connectivity issues.

President Barack Obama said Tuesday that they will fix the technical problems and adjust to demands that exceeded anything the Obama administration had expected.

Many state exchange programs had the same heavy traffic and technical issues. But some places, like Memphis, offered in person options for Memphians to get answers. Tuesday was the first of six "Get Covered" Memphis events that will take place every Tuesday and Thursday through the month of October.
