DC officer injured in Navy Yard shooting goes home

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Officials at a Washington hospital say a police officer who was wounded during the shooting at the Washington Navy Yard earlier this month has gone home.

MedStar Washington Hospital Center said Monday that the officer has been discharged from the hospital. The officer had previously been identified by police as Scott Williams, who has been with Metropolitan Police Department for more than 20 years.

Williams was one of three people taken to MedStar with injuries following the shooting on Sept. 16. The two other patients, both women, had previously been released. Twelve people were killed in the shooting before the gunman, Aaron Alexis, was fatally shot.
