Two Men Arrested After Alleged $2 Million Drug Bust

The Montgomery County District Attorney said it's a drug trafficking case unlike any seen before.

Dave Kinchen went to the North Wales apartment where two men were arrested and charged with pushing two million dollars' worth of heroin through Montgomery County, and Marian Shah can't believe she called them neighbors.

"Shaken up is the best way to describe it," Shah said.

Authorities from New Jersey worked with Montgomery county investigators on a top that 33-year-old Juan Mendez-Lazaro was hiding out in this complex.

He's a fugitive wanted for allegedly stealing a north Jersey police car…then hitting and dragging officers before taking off to New York City.

Police moved in on the Madison Hunt Apartments Thursday to dig around.

"They said "do you know these two gentlemen, showed us the brochure and we were like "oh yeah, we see them come home all the time. They live over there," Shah said.

Investigators say they arrested Menez-Lazaro and Edward Gomez-Veloz without incident and seized two cars from the parking lot loaded down with thousands of bags full of heroin.

"Heroin…that's not like a couple guys smoking in their apartment. This is the worst stuff," Shah said.

They also found a 12-ton press inside the apartment. It's used to compress large kilos of drugs.

Police found nearly 18 grand in cold cash as well and located this fully loaded handgun in a Philadelphia storage unit.

The district attorney is hitting the suspects with major drug charges to send a message.

And Marian Shah says she can rest easy knowing her former neighbors are now behind bars.

"Number one I feel lucky that we're alive. That we didn't get mixed up in some mess," Shah said.

Both suspects were jailed on $3 million bail each. Mendez-Lazaro was also charged with attempted murder of a police officer stemming from the North Jersey incident.
