Three Suspects Caught On Tape In Smash And Grab Robbery

Philadelphia, PA -

It could have been a scene right out of a video game, but this was the real deal caught on surveillance tape at this Game Stop video store in Olney.

"You can see how proud he is after he hits this place. Shame on him," Lt. George McClay of Northwest Detectives told Fox 29.

Three bandits, two wearing hoodies, walked into the store just after 3 last Wednesday and within seconds out came the hammer and this brazen smash and grab robbery was on.

"They're looking around, you see they're shopping, they're on a mission at this point," McClay said as he watched the video unfold.

"It's just dangerous out here and you know we want to feel safe," said Rev. Ronald Lee who shops at the area shopping center off Chew and Olney Avenues.

The whole thing was over in a matter of seconds. The thieves making off with about $3,200 worth or high end iPads, iTouch and iPod Nano equipment. None of the bandits displayed a weapon, but there were customers in the store during the robbery.

"They're from the neighborhood, they been out selling stuff all weekend now," McClay said.

This was the first smash and grab robbery like this in the area in quite a while, but police hope the public will recognize the three video store robbers so they can stop this real life crime in it's tracks.

"Even when you're going places that you think are safe, it is not safe, but what you gonna do. You can't be tied down and tied up, you still have to live your life," Rev. Lee told Fox 29.

"Any fool that goes into a store like this that has terrific cameras, these guys deserve to get caught," McClay added. "Right now, we want to stop them before this becomes any kind of a trend."

McClay says this is not the first time this Game Stop store has been robbed. Anyone with information on the suspects can call Northwest Detectives or just dial 9-1-1.
