Tucson man gets 2½ years in prison for sex assault

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson man convicted of kidnapping, sexual assault and impersonating a police officer has been sentenced to 2½ years in prison.

Pima County prosecutors say 22-year-old Norman Adrian Alvarez was sentenced Monday.

He was found guilty last month of 6 counts stemming from the incidents in August 2012.

Authorities say Alvarez approached three women claiming he was either a police officer or bounty hunter and had to speak with them about law enforcement issues.

They say he approached one woman at her apartment, where he allegedly groped her.

On the same night, Alvarez approached another woman while she sat in her car and allegedly fondled her and tried to kidnap her.

The Arizona Daily Star (http://bit.ly/1971qKr) says Alvarez also was accused of trying to extort sex from a homeless woman.
