Man's Body Found After Wilmington Apartment Fire

WILMINGTON, Del. -

Wilmington Fire Officials are investigating an apartment fire that left one man dead and another injured on Saturday.

The fire began around 1:30 p.m. in an apartment on the 1100 block of West 5th Street.

The fast-moving fire quickly spread from the apartment building to attached homes.

Neighbors said that it was 64-year-old Jose DeJesus who died after being trapped upstairs on the third floor.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control an hour later at 2:29 p.m.

Once the fire was extinguished, search crews located two unaccounted occupants.

One adult male occupant was injured and was able to escape the building; a second adult male occupant was located and removed from the third floor.

The second male occupant did not survive the fire.

The Wilmington Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the

cause of the fire.
