NORTH MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

It was nap time just before noon for 3-year-olds in Romona Taylor's classroom when a gunman walked into a North Watkins Street daycare in Memphis.

He moved from classroom to classroom and robbed the staff.

Seconds later Taylor was staring down the barrel of a gun.

"I'm just shaken up," Taylor said. "Now I'm trying to hurry up and get home now."

None of the victims or the children were injured.

Police said several classrooms were hit inside the Premiere Kids Daycare on North Watkins Street.

Taylor handed over her wallet to the masked man.

"When I seen the mask I actually thought somehow, you know, was like playing, you know making a joke or something until he actually pulled the gun and said that it was for real," she told FOX13 News.

Parents arriving to pick up their children in the afternoon hadn't heard what happened.

"I haven't heard anything, nobody's called and told me anything," said one parent. "I've been at work all day."

Investigators say the suspect got in through a side door. They say a bus driver left the door propped open earlier in the day.

"There's cameras in every room and everything is monitored, so..." said Nikita Campbell, parent.

Police said they have the suspect on camera. The masked man walked into the building and put on a white mask. He then moved from classroom to classroom and walked out the same door he came in.

Some of the daycare victims advised police that the suspect appeared to be nervous and held the gun in an unsteady manner.

"It's just sad that children are learning..." Campbell said. "...Drop your kids off and you expect them to be safe, but it's just the world we live in."

Surveillance video of the masked gunman has not been released by police and they have not released a description of the suspect.
