If you're wanting to spend your next vacation at the hottest tourist attractions in the country, you won't have to travel far.

"Friday the 13th may be an unlucky day for some cities, but for Memphis it's a lucky, lucky day," said Kevin Kane, President ad CEO of the Memphis Convention and Visitors' Bureau.
Graceland was recently voted by readers of USA Today and Top10.com as the No. 1 iconic tourist attraction in the nation and the National Civil Rights Museum the No. 3 best iconic attraction in the country.
Mt. Rushmore finished second.
"They picked 25 attractions in the country and we were so honored we were only one of three cities along with New York City and San Francisco that had multiple attractions on the list," Kane said. "Well they narrowed that down and the readers started to vote, and the results are in."
"This is indeed an honor," said Mayor A C Wharton. "I'm with mayors from around the country all the time and when you look at the size of the cities 8 million something, 5 million folks, 4 million; and here we are a 670,000 something town. I'm telling you we are the top vote of all of them."
"How awesome is it that Memphis, Tenn., has two of the top three iconic attractions in the country?," said Beverly Roberson of the NCRM. "I think that is special."
For some the fact that Elvis Presley's Graceland and the National Civil Rights Museum were No. 1 and 3 in the Top10.com / USA Today readers poll may seem unrelated, but Kevin Kearn of Graceland says the connection is there.
"In 1968 one of Elvis' primary and most iconic message recordings was a song 'If I Could Dream,' and was actually written in response to the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Memphis," Kearn said. "Elvis dreamed when one day his brothers could walk hand in hand together. We are truly honored to share this award, so thank you so much for the honor."
