Sheriff's office seeks applicants for next Citizens' Academy Class

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. -

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for those who would like to participate in and be part of the Sheriff's Citizens Academy Class #20.

Classes will begin Wednesday, September 25th and run through December 10th 2013.

Department presentations include Dispatch communications, Metro D.U.I, Fugitive, Courtroom Security, Crime Analysis, Crime Prevention, Jail Operations, Narcotics, Public Information and much more.

The eleven-week course will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm-9:00pm and on Saturdays from 8:00am-11:00am. Students must be at least 21 years of age, live or work in Shelby County and pass a criminal background check.

Applications will be accepted now through September 18th. They can be picked up at the Sheriff's Training Academy at 993 Dovecrest Road or on the Sheriff's Office website, www.shelby-sheriff.org.
