SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Shelby County School Board member Kevin Woods has filed an appeal to prevent a new election.

Last month chancellor Kenny Armstrong ordered a new election for the seat Woods won over Reverend Kenneth Whalum. The judge based his ruling on the election commission's admission that hundreds of incorrect ballots were cast in the 2012 election.

Whalum lost by 108 votes.

The appeal means a new election will most likely be put on hold until the case is resolved in court.
