MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The Memphis Tigers are hoping they can pick up where they left off last season and make a splash in their first game in the American Athletic Conference.

Still, coach Justin Fuente just doesn't know what to expect Saturday afternoon. He says things happen when the lights go on that haven't happened before no matter how prepared players may be.

Memphis went 4-8 in Fuente's first season but finished in style, winning its final three games.

The Tigers host the Duke Blue Devils who started last week with a 45-0 win over North Carolina Central, bolstered by an oft-maligned defense that earned a shutout in the opener. The Blue Devils beat Memphis 38-14 last year in the programs' only previous meeting.
