NEW JERSEY (MYFOXNY.COM) -

An elementary student in New Jersey is expected to face charges in connection with what's being described as a "Columbine" type of plot at his school.

Police say the plan surrounded Wall Township School.

The plan named 40 students as possible targets. The names were discovered on a computer police seized from the boy's home.

The school district says the investigation started last April after police were notified of threats that a student make towards classmates. The threats were considered "general" but the forensic examination of the boy's computer turned up the specific list.

Police reportedly described the plot as "elaborate" but say it was unlikely the boy could have carried it out.

The parents of the students have all been notified, according to school officials. The parents were being invited to a meeting with police and school officials.

In a letter to parents, the school district said: "Legally, the name of the student who made the threats cannot be divulged and given the ongoing nature of the matter, very little additional information can be discussed."

Classes in the Wall Township School District started on Thursday.
