Police find $3M of 'Molly' at Morrow home

Posted: Updated:

Police in Clayton County say they found $3 million worth of the drug "Molly" at a home on Thursday.

Officers said they served a search warrant at a home on Monterey Drive in the Morrow area on Thursday night. Police said they had received tips that drug activity was happening at the home.

Inside the home, authorities say they found 22 kilos of the drug known as "Molly," which is a form of the drug MDMA.  The drug carries a street value of more than $3 million, according to police.

Authorities also found 14 rifles stashed throughout the home. In addition, three vehicles were seized.

Two people were taken into custody: 34-year-old Willie Bourda III and 29-year-old Joseph Bourda. They face possession and drug trafficking charges.

Ashlee Barton, who said she was a lifelong neighbor of the men, said she was stunned to hear of what police found in the home.

"They were real good people. I thought they were smarter than that," Barton said.

Barton said she never saw anything out of the ordinary going on at the house.

Clayton County Police Chief Gregory Porter applauded the citizens who provided authorities with the tips that led to the search.

Molly is gaining popularity as a party drug. The Georgia Poison Center of Atlanta said they had about 50 calls concerning the drug in all of 2012. This year, they've already had 69. They said that patients range from teens to people in their late-20s.
