Your road map to avoiding weekend construction

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

On the weekends, after navigating Atlanta's ever-challenging traffic all week, the last thing most drivers want to do is sit in more traffic because of construction.

To help make sure you know before you go, SKYFOX Traffic's Katie Beasley compiled this list of the some of the biggest projects around town that you might want to avoid:

Highway 316
Construction around Ga. 316 is still several years from completion. The recent batch of rainy weather is only further delaying this completion. Some work on the more than $52 million project has been postponed because of the muddy mess. The upgraded interchanges at Collins Hill Road and Highway 20 are expected to be finished by 2015.

I-285
All of the resurfacing on the top end of 285 is finally complete. That means only short projects will have multi-lane closures going forward on your days off.

Ga. 400/I-85
Construction crews are only about 1 week behind on the Ga. 400 and I-85 interchange. The overpasses will eventually allow drivers to move southbound to northbound between that busy area. That should relieve traffic on Cheshire Bridge and Buford Highway. The overpasses should be finished by the end of 2013.
