The Memphis Redbirds released their 2014 Pacific Coast League schedule dates today and will host 72 games at AutoZone Park during their 17th year of competition.
The 2014 season marks a change in the PCL's divisional alignment in conjunction with the scheduled move of the Tucson franchise to El Paso, Tex. The Redbirds will be joining the American Conference Southern Division with the New Orleans Zephyrs (Triple-A affiliate Marlins), Round Rock Express (Triple-A Rangers), and cross-state rival Nashville Sounds (Triple-A Brewers).
After beginning the campaign with an eight-game road trip, the Redbirds begin their home slate on Friday, April 11 at AutoZone Park by taking on the Iowa Cubs in the opener of a four-game homestand.
The 2014 home schedule includes 11 homestands, 34 weekend dates (Fri.-Sun.), and 12 matinees.
A total of 14 spectacular fireworks nights are at the forefront of next year's home schedule, including two on Memorial Day weekend, Independence Day, and every Saturday home game. The Redbirds will travel to each of the four Pacific Southern clubs - Salt Lake, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, and El Paso - for four-game sets.
The 2014 season will be the Redbirds' 17th year in the Pacific Coast League and as Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
