2013 holiday Angel Tree lines open today

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) -

It may only be September but one charity is ready to help those in need for Christmas.

The phone lines for the Salvation Army's "Angel Tree" program will open September 4th at 9 a.m. and will stay open until 4:30p.m.

The program provides Christmas gifts to 500 children and seniors across the mid-south.

When/Where:

  • Weekdays, September 4 -10 or until quota is reached
  • Calls will be answered 9am – 4:30 pm only.
  • Calls will not be answered on Saturday & Sunday

WHO:

  • Parents or guardians who wish to qualify their children for Angel Tree and were NOT SERVED LAST YEAR should call. The children should be 12 years old or younger, must have a social security number and receive reduced or free lunches.   

MORE INFO:

  • Callers will be registered on a first come, first served basis.
  • The 2013 Angel Tree program provides Christmas gifts to 5000 children and seniors in The Salvation Army's service area, which includes 8 counties in west Tennessee, northern Mississippi and eastern Arkansas.
  • The Angel Tree was founded by The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary in 1986 and served 599 people.
