A woman was found dead in an apartment this morning and a family member says she was a teacher.
Her body was found around 10 a.m. this morning inside a unit at the University Cabana apartment complex on Oakmont.
Police say she appeared to have been beaten to death.
While police have not released a positive ID of the victim, a family member told us her name is Bresha Lewis and that she was a special needs teacher at Idlewild and Brewster elementary schools.
The police have not released any suspect information, although the victim's aunt told us she thinks she knows who is responsible. "Her boyfriend who had a restraining order and he should have still been in jail, but now she's dead. I hope he's satisfied and his families happy that she's lying in there. We not feeling too good right now," said Rosie Banks.
Shelby County Schools says it's not speaking about this case at this time.
