Prosecution rests in 13-month-old murder trial

Posted: Updated:

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) -- The adult daughter of a woman whose baby was killed in coastal Georgia testified that her mother's account of the shooting didn't add up.

A defense lawyer for De'Marquise Elkins called Ashley Glassey to testify Wednesday. Elkins is charged in the March 21 killing of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in Brunswick.

Glassey's mother, Sherry West, has said she was walking home from the post office with Antonio in a stroller on March 21 when Elkins and another teen approached her. She said the teens demanded money and shot the baby in the face after she said she didn't have any.

Glassey, who lives in New Jersey, said her mother called her the night of the shooting. Glassey said her mother's story didn't quite add up, but Glassey didn't elaborate much on why.
