Fundraiser for Damian's funeral, both families speak out

ROMEO, Mich. (WJBK) -

The community gathers together Tuesday night, at Younger's Irish Tavern in Romeo. Many sharing support and condolences with the grief-stricken Sutton family, just hours after 2-year-old Damian died from injuries sustained in a severe beating last week.

Damian was under the watch of his mother's boyfriend, Ronald Dimambro Jr. at the time. That man now sits behind bars without bond, accused of first degree child abuse, and pending new charges now that Damian has died.

The boy was taken off life support Tuesday.

Another family also grieving during this time - the Dimambro family. A member of the family tells Fox 2 they're devastated, saying:
""The DiMambro's and extended family are grief stricken by the loss of Damian.  Our hearts and prayers are with those whose lives have been effected by this tragic event. "

The money raised at the event tonight goes directly to the Sutton family to help pay for Damian's funeral. Part of the money will also go to Care House of Oakland County, towards the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
