Alpharetta crews get a lesson in animal CPR

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -

Cobb County firefighters saved two dogs from a burning Marietta house last weekend, and on Tuesday, Alpharetta police and fire crews learned to do the same thing if necessary.

Two Weimaraners were found under a bed in a burning home on Sunday, and one of the dogs was unresponsive.  Firefighter Bill Smith was able to revive the dog using a doggie mask.

Alpharetta police and fire crews are being equipped with oxygen masks so that they can rescue four-legged family members from dangerous situations.  Firefighters can fit those masks for dogs, cats and even horses.

A concerned citizen organized a fundraiser to pay for the masks, and donated them to the city of Alpharetta.
