Fulton County school officials say an eighth grader at Ridgeview Charter School brought a loaded gun to school on Monday.  They say another student alerted them to the situation, and the weapon was confiscated by authorities.

The boy did not threaten or injure anyone at Ridgeview, according to spokesperson Samantha Evans.  That boy was taken into custody, but no other details were released.

"We are very thankful for the student who shared this tip with us and will continue to encourage students and our community to support us in helping to keep our schools safe," she said.

A letter was sent home alerting other parents to the incident.
