Lincoln Park PD's questionable use of force in cell phone video

Posted: Updated:
LINCOLN PARK, Mich. (WJBK) -

It was another fun evening at the Lincoln Park Days festival Saturday night, until the night got dark. That's when Rodney Rhodes says the loudspeaker announced the festival was closing early due to "unusual circumstances."

No one knew what these unusual circumstances were, but what happened next could certainly qualify.

Rhodes and a couple friends were amoung a crowd being ushered out of the park. He says they were walking and laughing, kidding around as usual, when some police officers heard the laughter and addressed it.

That's when the situation took a turn for the worse.

VIDEO: Watch Rhodes' raw cell phone video of the encounter

As you can see in the video, the officers grab the friend's arm and tackle him to the ground. Rhodes says the victim has visible scrapes, cuts, and bruises. The officers also took a Taser to his neck, and told him to stop resisting. Meanwhile, the friend can be heard saying, "I'm not resisting."

Rhodes has since visited the police station inquiring about his friend's bail, he says an officer told him, "I don't have to help you with s***."
