Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed wants four more years

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) -- Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed announced his bid for a second term.  Reed launched his campaign Monday outside Atlanta City Hall.
The 44-year-old mayor is a Democrat, but he has tried to frame himself as a pragmatic problem solver rather than a partisan.
He was a frequent surrogate campaigner for President Barack Obama leading up to the 2012 election. But he's also worked closely with Republican Gov. Nathan Deal's administration on a new downtown stadium and with Georgia's Republican congressmen on expanding the port of Savannah.
A former state legislator, Reed was elected in 2010 as the city's 59th mayor.
He was rumored earlier this year as a potential U.S. Senate candidate for Democrats, and he's still expected to seek statewide office at some point.
