Stars walk red carpet at Barclays Center for VMA’s

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Excitement about the Video Music Awards has been building all week and Sunday night, music’s biggest stars invaded Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

It’s the first major awards show held in Brooklyn and what better venue than the Barclays Center and what better than the VMA’s.

The huge crowd of fans that packed the red carpet went wild as Robin Thicke made his appearance and other artists nominated for honors followed.

"This is my first VMA’s. I’m pinching myself that I’m actually here,” said singer Wanz.

When Fox 5 asked him to sing a few lines … “I wear your granddad’s clothes, I look incredible.”

Nominee ASAP Rocky from Harlem shared a kiss with supermodel Chanel Iman then spoke with Fox 5.

“I’m so happy to be here right now.”

At times there seemed to be more reality start there than artists.

Renee Graziano of ‘Mob Wives’ was asked what you think about the VMA’s being in Brooklyn.

“It belongs here. This is it. Brooklyn is just a special place for everything – especially good food.”

“I’m very excited because it’s like every time there’s an event we fight with L.A. – so it’s a process,” said Drita D’Avanzo of ‘Mob Wives.’ “Now they’re like it’s going to be at the Barclays Center and I’m like score.”

“It’s always fun you know, you get to see new faces, old faces and great memories every time,” said Ronnie of the ‘Jersey Shore.’

The real winner is the city for showing the world how to throw a major world class event.

New York City is exploring ways to curb the speed of taxis. The Taxi and Limousine Commission this week issued a request for information on "anti speeding vehicle technologies."  The measures include devices that can intervene when drivers exceed posted speeds and "advisory systems" that can sound alarms when reckless driving is detected.
