Two words that have not been spoken in the same sentence in Oxford, Miss.: Cold beer.
The only two words that have ever generated this much excitement in Oxford are "Hotty Toddy." But less than 30 days from now cold beer sales will become a reality in the shadows of Ole Miss.
You had to buy warm beer in grocery stores and convenience stores in Oxford and put it on ice as stores haven't been able to sell beer cold.
Understand that the grocery stores and convenience stores will be able to sell it cold starting Sept. 19.

In some cases some convenience stores are going to have to put new coolers in as cold beer sales are becoming a reality in Oxford.
Some say it wasn't like Oxford residents weren't getting cold beer. They were just going other places to get it.
For now warm beer is still selling in Oxford. It sits by the caseloads on the floor and shelves of convenience stores, like the Oxford Spot, but in the next month it will be sold chilled.
The thought behind the old law some say is if you had to buy the beer warm you had to put it on ice before you drank it. Some others say it was part of some icy conspiracy.
