If you've been to downtown Phoenix recently, you've likely seen the new YMCA being built. It's a huge endeavor with Arizona State University.
The building is nearly finished.
"It's vibrant, exciting.. students enjoy it and we at ASU love being here as well," said ASU Downtown's Dean of Students, Dr. Georgeana Montoya.
ASU Downtown student Danielle Gilmore adds, "It's perfect being downtown on a small campus. We don't really have Tempe or the MU or a bunch of places to relax.. it's nice to have this to add to it."
The new YMCA is a partnership with ASU. It'll have an indoor running track, bike co-op and even a rooftop pool.
"It's amazing. It's the largest rooftop pool in Arizona we've been told.. yes and our students love it.. the one thing is that it is for our ASU students only," said Montoya.
ASU Downtown student Jocelyn Watson says, "A rooftop pool is always exciting. It's great -- Arizona is hot and it's going to be a great place to hang out and study, take a dip and then go in the lounge chairs for a while."
"It looks awesome. As you can tell we are excited to have it and great once the sun comes out and it's awesome to have it here," added Gilmore.
The $25 million facility will cater to students and working adults. The five story building also has a gym, weight room and student lounge that fill the 64,000 square feet.
The new fitness center is funded by a $75 per semester fee for each student.
