Arkansas State trooper injured in I-40 West Memphis crash

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (FOX13) -
An Arkansas State Police Trooper was injured Wednesday morning after his cruiser was rear-ended by another motorist on I-40 near the I-55 split in West Memphis.
The accident happened on the side of the highway at around 8:30 a.m., as the trooper pulled over his vehicle to check on a hitchhiker. Traffic was snarled for at least two hours near the Missouri State bridge.
Trooper First Class Gary Ladner, 35, of Crittenden County was alert and conscious before being taken to The MED in Memphis, Tenn. He is reportedly in fair condition, an Arkansas State Police spokesman said.
It is unclear if the other motorist was injured, but the second vehicle had to be towed away from the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by state police. It is unclear if the motorist will be cited or face charges.
