Agape Child & Family Services is proud to announce that they have once again been chosen to be part of Linda Solomon's nationally-acclaimed Pictures of Hope program! For the second year in a row, Agape will serve Memphis, one of only 12 cities in the United States chosen to participate in Pictures of Hope. Through this program, homeless and at-risk children, aged 7 - 12, are given the chance to express and realize their hopes through photography. Pictures of Hope is a national, annual collaboration between Ms. Solomon and Chevrolet.
During Pictures of Hope, children participate in a photography workshop featuring award-winning photojournalist and author, Linda Solomon. Upon completion of the workshop, children are surprised with cameras from Ms. Solomon and Mr. Henry Hutton, President and General Manager of Chuck Hutton Chevrolet. After receiving a camera, the children are sent on a photo assignment, with a volunteer mentor, to capture and reveal their hopes and dreams. In November, the budding photographers will be honored at a Meet the Young Artist reception at Chuck Hutton Chevrolet.
One of each child's photos will be turned into a new holiday greeting card. These cards highlight the children's heartfelt photos of "hope", as well as what hope their photo represents. Agape will use the Pictures of Hope cards as their official 2013 holiday cards! The packs of 15 cards are available now for preorder purchase for $25. The finished cards will be available at Thanksgiving. Thanks to the generosity of Chevrolet and its dealers, 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit Agape Child & Family Services.
"Their hopes and dreams captured in quiet moments tell a story that few
adults can imagine. When you show children that you care about what they
wish for in life, perhaps a child who never felt he or she had self
worth, now will.", says Linda Solomon.
