Detectives of the Shelby County Sheriff's ALERT, (Area Law Enforcement Retailers Team) received information that persons at the Car Corner on the 1800 block of Bartlett Rd. were purchasing stolen goods to include smart phones. Detectives set up an operation to track a shipment of IPhones to the address.
Upon observing a transaction with a customer and the manager of the Car Corner business, a search warrant was issued. The owner of the business, Fahad Sayani advised that he had purchased a shipment of 20 stolen IPhones for $2100.00 dollars. A search revealed the phones in a back office and a second suspect was activating them. Also found were numerous Samsung phones, laptops, shipping labels and equipment for dismantling and programming smart phones. The suspect admitted to illegally purchasing the phones and also selling them on EBay.
Fahad Sayani, 30, was arrested and charged with Criminal Attempt Felony to wit Theft of Property.
Agents of the Joint Terrorism Task Force were contacted and made the scene to interview several other individuals involved. They have advised that their part of the investigation is ongoing.
