Crews locate 2 men missing in Shelby Forest

MILLINGTON, Tenn. (FOX13) -

Shelby County search and rescue crews found two men early Tuesday morning in Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park in Millington, Tenn., the subject of a Memphis City Watch.

Earlier Monday the two men, 72-year-old Joseph Smith and Steven McBride, who is in his 40s, were last seen around 11:30 a.m. Monday near the Pavilion in Shelby Forest. The two men were seen with McBride's two daughters, police said.

The city watch was issued late Monday evening by Memphis Police.

A Shelby County Sheriff spokesman said the two men went to Shelby Forest at around 8:30 a.m. and got lost in the woods. Smith had reportedly been missing 18 hours.

Search and rescue crews started to canvas an area around 9 p.m. after their vehicle was located. Crews searched through forest and water for the missing men.
