The Talker: Comparing Jackson Jr., Blagojevich corruption trials

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Jackson was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison for looting $750,000 from his campaign fund while his wife, Sandi, will spend a year behind bars.

The Jacksons' attorneys say they're pleased with the sentence, calling it "fair," but not everyone agreed. There's a lot of talk that Jackson should have had the book thrown at him.

Among those calling for a stiffer sentence is Blagojevich's family. Rod Blagojevich is serving 14 years in prison for trying to sell President Obama's former seat. Blagojevich's brother says he can't understand why his brother was sent away for so long while Jackson gets only a couple years.

And while the judge in the Jackson case said she was concerned about the Jacksons' kids, Patti Blagojevich took to Facebook, posting: "The judge could have cared less about our children."

Some say the difference is that Jackson stole from his campaign contributors while in trying to sell a senate seat, Blagojevich defrauded every single voter in Illinois.

Or, could it have something to do with the different way each man came off in court?

Considering the lengthy sentence the former governor got, is the one the former congressman received fair?
