Woman, toddler critical after crash involving a fire truck

A terrible accident this morning at the intersection of Ridgeway and the 385 off ramp as a car with a infant inside collided with a fire truck responding to an emergency call.

It happened just after 9 a.m. this morning when the fire truck, according to witnesses and Memphis Fire, was south bound on Ridgeway with its emergency lights and sirens on broadsides this car.

Inside the car, an unidentified woman and her infant boy.

MPD confirms the child was ejected from the vehicle.

Both were taken to local hospitals in critical condition.

"Right now we did treat both patients they are being transported both in critical condition. Our hearts go out to their families."

Felicia Meaks says, "I heard sirens but I don't know if she heard the sirens, don't know but I heard em."

The accident is still under investigation.
