MEMPHIS, Tenn. (FOX13) - -

UPDATE: MLGW has restored the substation where a transformer blew early this morning.  It was reported that 13,000 customers were without power this morning.

MLGW reported that a raccoon had caused the outage. According to their Twitter account, "We invest quite a lot to keep animals out and safe but a determined animal is a challenge to deter."

MLGW crews worked all morning to restore power to thousands of customers.

The explosion caused an entire substation to shut down near Getwell and Mallory.

Memphis police said it was really dark near Rhodes and Quince. Motorists were being urged to be cautious when driving in the area.
