Schools Special Master still getting paid, but beginning to phase out
SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. (FOX13) -
The Special Master assigned to oversee the merger of Memphis and Shelby County Schools is slowly letting go of the reins, and his paycheck reflects that.
Rick Masson has been charging Shelby County taxpayers $250 an hour.
Last month, the FOX13 I-Team obtained the invoices that Masson submitted to the school system for his services over March, April and May.
Monday, we received a copy of his bill for June. For eleven hours of work that month, Masson billed the school system $2,750. His payment for all four months totaled $31,500 and, he's going to get more.
Masson remains Special Master until September 1.
